"I was sent to this school because we were bombed out and we went to stay with Aunty Nell until Mum and Dad found another house.  I couldn't wait to go back home and after about three months Mum decided it was safe for me to go back home.  Olive stayed so that she could sit her 11+ exam.

I remember learning how to knit.  The knitting was kept in a big hamper and you never got the same knitting back."
